John has been a writer, journalist and marketing communicator in Washington, D.C., Chicago and Cleveland. He covered the U.S. Congress and the U.S. Supreme Court as a rookie journalist, and later served as an editor at Penton Publishing and as University Editor of John Carroll University. His writing has appeared in more than 70 print and online publications, including Industry Week Magazine and the New York Times op-ed page, and he has ghostwritten three books. John currently serves as a contributing writer for Northern Ohio Live Magazine and as a columnist for Cleveland/Akron Family Mag. He has won numerous awards for his writing, including an Emmy for a script he wrote for a video documentary that ran on several PBS stations around the country. John’s private marketing clients, for whom he has performed writing and editing services, have included National City Bank, Cleveland Clinic, the law firm of Jones, Day, American Greetings and many others. John serves on the board of the Society of Professional Journalists and regularly speaks about and teach writing at colleges and universities around the region.
